Some of the best sounds in the soul movement of the sixties came from Female Groups such as The Marvelettes, The Supremes and Martha And The Vandellas.
Many of the early sixties British ‘Beat Groups’ cut their first tracks by copying American Female Groups, usually without acknowledging the source. However, both The Rolling Stones and The Beatles promoted the original groups and their increased fame was helped by this publicity.
