FOR YOUR PRECIOUS LOVE

With his backing band The Enchanters in the early 1960s, Garnet Mimms released some great singles and had a hit with Cry Baby (Covered By Janis Joplin).

After the Enchanters dissolved in 1965 Garnet Mimms went solo. All the tracks listed above were played at the great soul clubs in Manchester like the Twisted Wheel, The Blue Note and The Jigsaw. The solid soul fans in Manchester were responsible for recognising the catalogue of American soul artists and Garnet Mimms was eternally popular throughout the 1960s.  He appeared live at the Twisted Wheel. His recordings were at the centre of the soul craze in the city, which at the end of the decade was taken up and christened Northern Soul.

Its quit amazing these days that all these tracks like almost everything to do with Soul music is now classified as ‘Northern’. These songs are close to DooWop and more acuratly Deep Soul rather than the theme of Northern which I thought had to have that thumping dance beat?
