Bobby Hebb

Bobby Hebb - Sunny

Bobby Hebb, was born in Nashville Tennessee in 1941. He first recorded as Bobby and Sylvia with Sylvia Shemwell. Bobby Hebb’s original musical background was in country music.  It was in 1966 after signing to the Philips label that he wrote and recorded Sunny which reached No. 2 in the USA and No 12 in the UK. It had reduced sales in the UK, and would have been a bigger hit if Georgie Fame had not  recorded it also.

Sunny was a very popular original Northern Soul Hit, that almost every artist covered.

Song Lyrics – Sunny – Bobby Hebb

Sunny, yesterday my life was filled with rain.

Sunny, you smiled at me and really eased the pain.

Oh, the dark days are done and the bright days are here,

my sunny one shines so sincere.

Love, Love, Love – well if Sunny was huge at The Twisted Wheel it was Love, Love , Love that was big at The Blue Note club in Manchester in 1968. And this comes in at 67 on The Northern Soul Top Ten from DJ and Soul promoter Kev Roberts.
