39-21-46 Shape

Jimmy Jones released a couple of really popular songs in the early sixties, Good Timin’ and Handy Man. This was the time when jukeboxes in the U.K. had improved beyond recognition in terms of sheer vocal output and could really belt out a loud song, both of which these were.

On the way to a camping trip in North Wales when we stopped at a roadside cafe, just a step up from a greasy spoon, I put Good Timin’ on the jukebox which caused a great deal of consternation with the ole folks, my parents among them. Happy days.

As the above title refers to a girl’s ‘vital statistics’, not too sure it would be released in today’s climate…According to Wikipedia, this was entitled 39-21-40 Shape but not as far as the label is concerned. It was played at the Twisted Wheel, Manchester, in 1967 (now worth around 100 quid), previously a 1963 hit for The Showmen.
