After The Laughter Comes Tears

Wendy Rene (real name Mary Frierson) originally sang with The Drapels. She also backed Rufus and Carla Thomas on several of their numbers. On Bar-B-Q she sounded uncannily like Michael Jackson. 45’s played at THE BLUE NOTE by Roger Eagle – who sold After The Laughter to Dave Lomas (Blue Note DJ 1968-71).

After she married, Wendy Rene’s name became Mary Cross and she started singing with Bountiful Blessing Church in Memphis.
