Wanda Jackson produced some of the most exciting Rock music ever. Her recording of I Go Ape used to be a favourite on every fair visiting Heaton Park in Manchester in the late fifties and early sixties. Another raucous song was Let’s Have A Party. Her voice on these tracks was raw and very exciting. She became more famous as a country and western singer but you couldn’t take the animal passion from her voice.
She used to appear on tour with Elvis.
