The Ventures were formed way back in 1959. There was a time when instrumentals were played with great frequency at Manchester beat clubs, especially at the original Twisted Wheel.where was a big following for Surf and Surf related music.

The Ventures were copied in style as well as some of their music  in the UK by the Shadows although they themselves were guilty of covering Telstar by UK group The Tornadoes. They were still going strong at the last check with one or two line-up changes.
