The Capitols - Cool Jerk

Cool Jerk – USA KAREN, UK Atlantic
The Capitols or ‘The Three Caps’, on the UK Atlantic label, as their original name clashed with an existing name in the UK.
1962 – Sam George (lead singer) Donald Norman Storball (guitar) Richard Mitchell McDougall (keyboards) were the Capitols but success was nowhere in sight. 1966 they re-formed around the idea for a song – Karen label owner (Ollie McLaughlin) released Cool Jerk and it soared into the USA charts reaching nuimber two in the RnB charts and seven on the national pop chart.
It was released in the UK and soon became a massive, simply MASSIVE hit at the Twisted Wheel All-nighters.
In 1982 Sam George was murdered (17th March) he was just 39.
