Teddy Vann Orchestra – no biography details found so far. One detail to note: the American release spells it ‘Coloredman’, the UK version ‘Colouredman’ (see below) and the tune was written by Teddy Vann. Of course, the very name ‘Coloredman’ may possibly offend today and it is interesting to see how what was previously accepted as main stream is now definitely seen as insensitive at the very least. The cast included James Earl Jones.
It was the theme tune for the film ‘Coloredman’ which was a superhero, superman standup comedy L.P. with a black hero and its cast in 1967 would probably never imagine that in the future their idea would become a genre. The film Black Panther has become a massive box office success, thus fulfilling a prophecy…
However, the track is an up-tempo instrumental which barely fits the category of soul or northern soul – the jury is out…
