Manchester

Manchester has become famous for the Manchester Music movement based mainly round Factory Records, The Hacienda and groups such as The Happy Mondays and Joy Division.

However, what many people fail to realize is that the activists behind the music such as Tony Wilson and Martin Hannett, learned much from the previous incarnation of Manchester Music, the soul movement. Hannett used to frequent the Twisted Wheel as I can attest – we both attended Xaverian College and I knew him well.
