The Soul Sisters – It was The Spencer Davis Group that had a minor success with I Can’t Stand It. It was an excellent version at the time and was very popular and the Manchester Beat Clubs, mainly because whilst not the original, The Spencer Davis Group had a massive following due to their live performances in these same clubs.
The original version by the Soul Sisters was undoubtedly superb, enhance by their slyly knowing vocals which made them sound as if they had been around the block at bit.
Nowadays, of course Soul Sister has taken on a quite different, black feminist meaning.
