Pubs – Manchester

Pubs – Manchester – The Nags Head and The Rising Sun were both close to the Brazennose Street Twisted Wheel and many people would get a pass out (an ink stamp on your wrist) to go out for a pint during early Saturday night and weekly sessions. In these days of wine bars and brasseries it is amazing that they are both still standing.

Famous people we saw in The Rising Sun (The Nag’s Head was more popular with the Oasis Club crowd) included:

Rod Stewart
Sonny Boy Williamson
Long John Baldry

The Shambles / Sinclairs was another favourite place usually before All-Nighters – again it’s still in one piece although it was moved bit by bit from its old location.

The favourite pub for the Blue Note crowd was the Waldorf  Hotel – another pub with a soul history that still survives today.
