Not to be confused with the same song title by the Supremes – There’s No Stopping Us Now which is brilliant. This recording is by McFadden & Whitehead from the late 70’s and its a humdinger! I always loved it and its still as fresh today as that first time I heard it when it just bowled me over! Classified as Disco but this is Soul dance music of the highest quality.
They were Song writers in Philadelphia at International Records owned by Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, who kept them only as house songwriters not performers. So the song lyrics are about getting going as artists. Sad to say that the lyrics did not forecast what they wanted – a string of hits – which never materialised.
