Margie Hendricks was one of The Raelettes – Ray Charles female backing group. She featured on tracks such as Ray Charles: Live at Atlanta 1959 LP.
She is portrayed as Ray Charles’ lover in the film Ray and she had a son by him, Charles Hendrix. However, allegedly all of the Raelettes were involved with Ray at one time or other! She tried to get him to leave his wife after she had given birth but that didn’t happen and eventually her behaviour on tours led to him firing her.
