Well there were lots of Philly Dog records in the sixties, this one is somewhat derivative; even in the song Jimmie Raye claims to be “the creator…”. We had Philly Dog from The Mar-Keys (instrumental) another from Herbie Mann (instrumental, Teach Me (the Philly Dog) from The Manhattans, Charles Ables – Philly Dog, and the best and the greatest from:The Olympics – Baby, Do The Philly Dog. All three highlighted above were simply: H U G E 45’s at The Twisted Wheel.
