Jimmy Powell - Sugar Man

Jimmy Powell’s first single was ‘Sugar Babe’ Pts. 1 and 2 – (Decca in 1962)
1963 he became Jimmy Powell and the Five Dimensions with Rod Stewart as a member. ‘I’m Looking For A Woman’ was a blues track they did on live performances at the Wheel. Jimmy Powell always had a good reception with his live show – he tended to wear a trilby and went in for a lot of sexual innuendo in his extended versions of various blues standards, all done with an extraordinary powerful voice. It all sounds a bit dodgy now. Nevertheless, one of those acts which hasn’t faded from memory.
1965 the group split up Jimmy went solo.
