Jimmy McGriff beloved blues, jazz, Hammond B 3 organ player of the London Mod’s scene – was also greatly appreciated up ‘North’ in the ‘grim’ land of ‘Northern Soul’ music – Manchester. He was given organ lessons from Jimmy Smith, Richard “Groove” Holmes and Milt Buckner.

So it’s no small wonder that that he grooved away at those keys and hit with “I Got a Woman” in 1963 (20 in the USA pop charts).
