Willie Mitchel produced most of Hi records output. Bill Black was Elvis Presley’s bass player and in 1959 he recorded Smokie Part 2 for HI records. This and his ‘Little Queenie’ and ‘Raunchy’ were big tracks at the Twisted Wheel. The club played many instrumentals and the full set of releases by Willie Mitchell were played constantly.

Atlantic periodically used , the Hi studios and their musicians. Al Green was their biggest star with Ann Peebles following close behind.
