Diana Ross of course was the lead singer of The SUPREMES. She was always a favourite of Berry Gordy the owner of Motown, having a child by him and marrying him, but not at the same times. She went solo after leaving the Supremes and had a chain of huge hits. She starred in the first Motown movie in 1972 as Billie Holiday in Lady Sings The Blues and subsequently had a second career as an actress.
As is inevitable with such a big star, Diana Ross has the reputation of being a ‘diva’, a title she no doubt is entitled to, her orbit being so vast.
Before leaving The Supremes she had already increase her billing as they renamed the group to Diana Ross And The Supremes.
