Chuck Jackson And Maxine Brown released several tracks a duo. Chuck Jackson had already had a string of hits: I Don’t Want To Cry, I Wake Up Crying, Tell Him I’m Not Home and the fantastic Any Day Now, co-written by Burt Bacharach, when in 1965 he teamed up with Maxine Brown who was also signed to the Wand label, for several duets.
Maxine had also recorded some fantastic soul numbers e.g.; Oh No Not My Baby later covered by (Manfred Mann) and of course all of this duet individual and combined tracks were much sort after items for Manchester soul collectors at the time. Baby Take Me was a track covered by the SteamPacket and often sang by them in their live shows at Manchester’s Twisted Wheel, a tribute to Chuck and Maxine from Rod the Mod!
Chuck Jackson 1967 Chuck Jackson joined Motown. Later he commented, “one of the worst mistakes I ever made in my life”. At Motown he did Freddie Scott‘s Are You Lonely For Me Baby?
1971 left Motown for ABC, where he had a minor hit, I Only Get This Feeling, in 1973.
1973 All-Platinum in 1975, with I’m Wanting You, I’m Needing You .
1980 joined EMI America, where he sang on two Gary U.S. Bonds’ albums.
1989 as an ex-Motown artist he signed to Ian Levine‘s Motor City and recorded two singles.
1992 released an album with Cissy Houston.
Maxine Brown In the early 1960’s on the Nomar and Wand labels Maxine recorded All in My Mind, Funny, Something You Got, Oh No Not My Baby.
1960 All in My Mind – Nomar USA. The single became a hit, climbing to number two on the R ‘n B charts (number 19 pop), and it was quickly followed by Funny, which peaked at number three. She was poised to become a star and moved to ABC-Paramount in 1962.
1963 moved to Uptown soul label Wand. She co-wrote Oh No Not My Baby, which reached number 24 USA but recorded by Manfred Mann in the UK it went much higher which is sad as it was a much inferior copy. Her follow up was It’s Gonna Be Alright.

Maxine and Chuck’s duets included Something You Got, Hold On I’m Coming, and Daddy’s Home.
1969 left Wand and joined Commonwealth United: We’ll Cry Together and I Can’t Get Along Without You.
1907 moved to Avco Records.
