The founder of Atlantic records with Ahmet Ertegun. Herb Abramson sold the label to Jerry Blaine in September 1947. However, before Atlantic Herb owned Jubilee Records whose first success brought black artists to the white record buying public in 1953  with ‘Crying in the Chapel,’ by The Orioles.
