Dee Clarke Co Wrote You Can’t Sit Down with Phil Upchurch and they also wrote ‘Raindrops’ together in 1961. A great session guitarist Phil Upchurch was prominent in Chicago music in the 1950s, eventually becoming house guitarist at Chess.

The Phil Upchurch Combo recorded ‘You Can’t Sit Down’ in 1961 and from 1963 onwards in the Manchester soul clubs no one did whenever it was played. It was released as a vocal version by The Dovells and the two versions were often played back to back.
