Kenny Gamble And Leon Huff

Induction of Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff

Kenny Gamble And Leon Huff – the men behind the Philly Sound

Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff were almost solely responsible for the Philly Sound –  a more seductive version of soul music. If you think of songs such as Me and Mrs Jones, Billy Paul and If You Don’t Know Me By Now, Harold Melvin,  both written by Gamble and Huff, then you get the general idea. But they also wrote fast moving songs that fit the glove of Northern Soul – The Eptones.

Kenny Gamble was one time married to Dee Dee Sharp and wrote great songs for her.

Kenny started out in the Do Wop group Kenny And The Romeros.

Leon Huff wrote a song for Johnny Caswell – it was a favorite on the 70’s Northern scene.

The Persianettes a long lost Soul girl group.
