Birdlegs and Pauline – what an odd name for this husband and wife R&B duo. According to Jim Kirchstein of Cuca Records, who leased Spring to Vee Jay records, they were from Rockford Illinois. Sidney ‘Birdlegs’ Banks was still alive in 2004 although sadly his wife Pauline Shivers had passed away in 2002 in Los Angeles where she sang gospel after she and Birdlegs split up several years previously.
Although Pauline went on to record again under her maiden name of Pauline Shivers, Birdlegs was a one hit artist.
